The Secrets of the Palazzo Ducale

Far from echoing the glories and ceremonies of the institutions of the Republic, and the private apartments of the Doge, the Doge's Palace houses the offices of the Secret Chancellery, the torture chamber and the infamous Piombi, the prison on the roof of the palace.

This tour takes us through narrow corridors and administrative offices. We will also see the cell where Casanova was imprisoned, and the structure that supports the ceiling of the immense Sala del Maggior Consiglio where the Maggior Consiglio della Repubblica carried out its business.
